World Tour in the US, 2016 Spring
with Spiritual Mentor Cheon Gong
Schedule: April 19 - May 6, 2016
Los Angeles / New York / Washington D.C.
In April 2016, Cheon Gong Seuseungnim headed for the U.S to deliver a special lecture in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. This spring journey in 2016 lasted 17 days from April 19 to May 6. starting from Los Angeles and continued through New York, Philadelphia, to Washington, D.C.
#L.A. Official Lecture I
On April 23, 2016, the LA official lecture was finally held. Questions and the part of the answers from the lecture are as follows.
1. The United States of America, a country of freedom and hope
Question: A representative image of the United States is a country of freedom, a country of hope. In the present U.S., it is hard to find freedom, dreams, and hopes, and the image of a country full of social problems is strong. How can the U.S. be a truly free country, a country of hope?
The United States is a free country. There are a lot of people coming and if there’s a little bit of trouble, then the law about the issue is strengthened. America does not exist for any particular person, it does exist for all. If a group makes its case strong, then sanctions are imposed on it. If your life has become difficult, you are living in the wrong. Who can you blame? Don’t blame others!
2. Life of American Immigrants
Question: American immigrants are often intimidated as they face many problems as the minority living in America. I’d like to ask you how they can live confidently in such a case.
In the United States, if we are to equip and learn, we don’t have a hard time living. It’s hard to get ahead in the world. If you live in an attitude of learning, the sky helps you. Nature is what gives you the environment, and that’s what I need to grow in.
3. Wise Ways of Spending Money
Question: There are differences in opinions about spending money between husband and wife and I’d like to ask you how to spend it wisely.
Money is meant to be spent. There are good spending and bad spending. If you spend money wrong, life becomes difficult. If you spend money well, you will improve your quality of life and earn more money.
#L.A. Official Lecture II
1. Awareness of the Importance of Time
Question: How can I realize the importance of time when you say that nothing is as precious as time?
It’s your time whether you know or don’t know the value of time. The questioner is 49 years old and your time for self-development is passing. The age of 49 is critical because it’s the last year of your 40s before you become 50. Nature has given you all the benefits for your learning and growth through the environment, and now Nature is watching you how you’re going to move on to your fifties. If you haven’t properly studied, you will have hard time in your 40s. That’s why we call 40s the age of “extremely hard”.
2. An Ideal Couple
Question: I would like to ask if an ideal relationship is to find and share the same ideology and work together.
You can work together when you have cultivated yourself to a certain degree. If you haven’t equipped yourself with proper knowledge and ability, you will constantly have trouble in your relationship. If you work with someone who doesn’t agree each other, it will not go well definitely. That both husband and wife are working but go to a different company means that you are learning your lessons at the site. You will be able to communicate well each other when you are fully equipped. Even if you have learned different things, you will have something in common that you will be able to do anything together. This is how you study.
3. A Preconceived Idea of the First Impression
Question: I would like to ask you how we can avoid misconceptions when we make a judgment by looking at the other person’s first impression.
This is how you meet people without prejudice. Just deal with it. If you meet someone, you can just meet someone. When you meet someone, you will read something about the person on their first impression. That’s why the face is called ‘Chilsungpan’ and you show your face to other people. It’s the person as you feel him/her at the first impression. Keep the feeling. Treat them as they are. Then you will get to know the person. Nature never sends you anyone you don’t need.
JFK Airport, N.Y. – On arrival at the airport, different atmospheres from that of the West welcomed us.
#Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in the City and Diocese of New York
April 26, 2016. We visited the Cathedral Church of St. John the divine. The pieces of the wall, which I didn’t know from a distance, were elaborate and splendid. Inside, I could feel clean and unified with a white wall.
And the river seen through windows also added more dignity of here because the building is right next to the Potomac River. We ended our day here by meeting VIPs over dinner and returning to our hotel.
Seuseungnim taught us about making the right wishes and we had time to practice it together. I was greatly moved to hear the lecture of Seuseungnim echoing in the cathedral. It was heart-throbbing to imagine the day when Seuseungnim would conduct a great lecture in such a splendid place. The subsequent lecture made me realize how much his lectures given out here meant a lot in this era.
1. God’s Worker
Jesus answered when he was preaching, not in a good place, but anywhere he could sit. People came to him talking about their difficulties, and he answered to them regardless of the place. That’s why he became famous.
All of them lived for themselves at the time, and not many of them intended to live for other people. But Jesus did not live for himself, but the needy. That he tried to live for others even just for a day made his being holy. This is the reason people respect him.
If we want to resemble the life of Jesus, we should be able to devote ourselves to live for others just for a day, an hour, or even a minute.
If you want to have a lot of money, you can. But God will see if it’s used well or not. If you don’t use it well, you’ll reap it. So you suffer a great deal. Wanting to have much money is not said to be greed. It is greed that you want other people to listen to you because you have power. If you’re studying Jungbub Lecture, don’t try to teach people in your own way. Otherwise, you will suffer out of greed.
Likewise, this person(Cheon Gong) is not a greedy. This man lives for all people, not for a man. If you love and care for people as I (Cheon Gong) do, you will go with me. When I came out of the mountains with a beggar-like appearance, I looked around all the famous mountains across the country meeting people who are disciplining themselves. Where did this man go after then
I went to Yoido Full Gospel Church in Korea. But when I was about to go in, the big guy stopped me. When I asked him, “Can’t I go in?” he said, “This is not where you can come in.” So I sat back and sat on the steps behind the church, saying, “Yes, I got it.” Jesus and Maria were in front of me at that time, and they were floundered as I couldn’t get in and got kicked out.
Maria asked for one more place and led the way. And it was Myeongdong Cathedral where Maria took this man. When I entered, they took this person who looked like a beggar to the center of the church, saying, “Oh, come on.” I watched the whole mass there.
What did I say when I came out?
“This is the house of God that the door left open to accept a beggar.”
In that word, Christianity has fewer and fewer people to come, and Catholicism vice versa. A saint visits a place not only to give people strength but also deprive them of strength.
If you’ve opened the door and asked people to come to God’s house, you have to accept the poor and the needy first. God gave you the power to use for the poor and needy. So it is important how to use that power for the needy. Know today that the first lecture of the law of Nature in the United States took place here in the Cathedral Church of St. John the divine. This will soon become history.
2. The Method of Prayer in a Cathedral
When can God come?
If someone comes here and kneels and asks for God, God can come.
And if you ask for Jesus, he can come. If you ask for Siddhartha, he can come either.
Whether they will come or not depends on your quality of thought, which is compatible with their quality of energy. Then when can’t they come? If you invite God first and call your ancestors after that, the ancestors will not come. In other words, any gods won’t be able to come when you ask for God’s help. Then, not here, but in the park, from your balcony? It comes. God comes when you ask regardless of the place.
However, God comes only when you ask God with the purpose to live for everyone.
‘God! Let my son pass the exam!’ God never comes in this case. Do you think God comes to help you regarding your private concern? No way. You should not ask God for your safety but at least for the neighbors, for the society, the country, and the human race.
This is a sacred place made of the blood and sweat of the people. Whether they are from underdeveloped or advanced countries, they have made efforts together to build this Cathedral church. So it can’t be owned by anyone. That is why it can be a kingdom of God.
Now, living a public life brings God. It’s not that God comes directly before you, but its frequency is connected to you.
We visited Columbia University, a prestigious university. Then I went to Harlem Street in New York. When Seuseungnim was giving out lectures in a cafe, many people gathered one by one and two, making it quite a crowd. “I can’t explain something, but I feel mysterious energy from him,” One of the crowd said. Seeing Seuseungnim smiling at people gathered around, I felt his profound love for all the people.

Upon arrival, we visited Jefferson Memorial and Washington Monument. As we huddled on the steps in front of the Jefferson Memorial, we listened to the lecture and did not realize the passage of time. It was such a nice place to listen to lecture with white and clean marble floors, stairs. And even the vast lawn. I was envious of America for having a vast land. After the lecture, we visited Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia next to Washington DC.
#The official lecture in Washington D.C.
1. A reason why one should not complain fear
Question: I know that many complaints can lead to illness, but I would appreciate it if you could explain the principles in more detail.
The worst way we can live is to blame others. And complaining is the worst thing. Complaining is beginning to get you in trouble. The moment you blame others, you’re having trouble. These are the virtues you should keep in mind. If you complain and blame others, you will fall into difficulty step by step and you will be extremely hard to manage your difficulties later. Moreover, difficulties lead to illness. Something goes wrong with me because I’m not good enough. It’s nothing to blame. Always appreciate the environment given to me and study the reason why it is given.
2. Mind Control
Question: I wonder how I can manage this invisible, undetected mind.
Humanity will begin to study the mind. But you can’t study your mind yourself. Because you don’t know the mind. It’s not the mind but your thought that changes dozens of times a day. Thinking is what the soul creates. Information enters the human body, passes through the brain, passes through the ‘mind energy’ to the soul. It processes the information from the soul, passes through the ‘mind energy’, into the brain, and speaks through the mouth. This is the production of words.
3. The Hearts and Minds of God
Question: Humans are made in the form of God. I wonder if God has a spirit and a mind like humans
It was someone who said that man is made in the form of God. This is what has come to history. God never said that. God exists himself. God is the energy of nature. And when humans die, they become gods. Now people who don’t have reincarnation die and become heavenly gods. The last life on this earth is precious. “The energy of Heaven and Earth is still but only human energy moves.” Human beings become gods after death and operate the nature.
After a successful lecture, we visited Longwood Gardens. With numerous trees and flowers on display, the place was beautiful enough to let out an exclamation at every walk. Not only the small trees, but every tree standing tall on the broad grass field, I could not easily pass by. The green trees around the lake gave me a lesson about the harmony of nature. Various flowers of various colors added the depth to the harmony. We were building memories like red lilies walking through various kinds of fountains, paths leading between trees, labyrinths made of trees, and on the broad grass. However, it was unfortunate that the perfect Longwood Garden could not be seen because it was in off-season construction. I hope we can see the perfect Longwood Garden next time.
